PADI JUNIOR OPEN WATER SCUBA CERTIFICATION

So you’re ready to get your PADI scuba diving certification?! You’re between the ages of 10-15 years old?! The PADI Junior Open Water Certification Course is the one for you!

You don’t have to be an adult to learn how to scuba dive. Kids’ natural curiosity and aptitude for learning make them some of the best scuba students.

The PADI Junior Open Water Diver is a special scuba certification for divers who are at least 10 years old, but younger than 15. The Junior Open Water Diver course covers the same material as the standard PADI Open Water Diver course but has smaller teacher-to-student ratios and shallower depth limits.

Whether you have always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, are looking to discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts.

Aaron’s Dive Shop offers Junior Open Water Scuba Diving Courses around YOUR schedule! With the eLearning (online learning), small class sizes and hands-on instruction; you will be scuba diving in no time!

EXPLORE THE UNDERWATER WORLD AS A FAMILY!

This is the first level of scuba diving where you learn your basic scuba diving skills. It consists of three parts: 1. academic learning (knowledge development), 2. pool training (confined water), and 3. open water certification dives.

1. The academic portion (which can be completed in-person or on-line) is broken into five sections and will teach you about the fundamentals you need to understand to be able safely make dives using scuba (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus).

2. The pool sessions are also broken into five sessions (completed in one day). They will build on the knowledge you got in the classroom and give you a chance to practice all the skills you will need to master.

3. The open water dives are what everyone is waiting for – here is your time to get out for a dive and demonstrate that you have learned the skills needed to safely dive. You’ll be trained to a maximum depth of 60 feet, and are qualified to dive in conditions as good as, or better than, those in which you trained. It’s just the beginning of a lifetime filled with dive adventures.

To become open water certified, you do not need to have any prior scuba diving training or experience. We do recommend that students participate in a Discover Scuba Diving experience to get a taste for scuba diving but it is not required.

Students must be able to swim.

Students must be medically fit, able to complete a 200 yd swim (there is no time limit or stroke requirement). Students must fill out the Medical Questionnaire and potentially be cleared by a physician to dive.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

The course takes a minimum of three days. We are very flexible, we allow our students to start when they wish and we will work around your schedule.

For children ages 10-11
In Confined Open Water and Open Water, the student-to-instructor ratio may not exceed 4:1 and there may not be more than two children aged 10-11 in the group. Divers aged 10 or 11 may not dive deeper than 12 meters/40 feet during the class or following certification.

Please note: children must be at least 10 years old to start scuba certification training. If your child is eight or nine years old, they may participate in a scuba experience program (i.e. Keiki Scuba Diving Day Camp or Seal Team).

For children ages 12-14
Junior Open Water students who are at least 12, but under 15 years old may dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet.

All beginner scuba divers, including adults, should stay above 18 metres/60 feet until they have additional training or experience.

Because the Junior Open Water Diver course covers the same information and skills as the Open Water Diver course, a Junior Open Water Diver may upgrade to an Open Water certification by simply ordering a replacement card once they turn 15.

There’s nothing special you need to do when you order a new PADI card online or from a dive shop. The new card will automatically be printed without the ‘Junior’ designation if the diver is at least 15 years old.

There is required reading that must be completed before the start of the course.  You can come into the shop to receeve your crew pack with your books, there is also the option of doing all the knowledge development online through PADI e-Learning.

Courses are scheduled around your availability.
Courses may require an eLearning portion.
