So you’re ready to get your PADI scuba diving certification?! Whether you have always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, are looking to discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts!

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba diving course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

Aaron’s Dive Shop offers Open Water Scuba Diving Courses around YOUR schedule! With the eLearning (online learning), small class sizes and hands-on instruction; you will be scuba diving in no time!

This is the first level of scuba diving where you learn your basic scuba diving skills. It consists of three parts, academic learning (knowledge development), pool training (confined water), and open water certification dives.

1. Academic Learning

The academic portion can be completed in-person or on-line. It is broken into five sections and will teach you about the fundamentals you need to understand to be able safely make dives using scuba. Scuba is an acronym that stands for self-contained underwater breathing apparatus.

2. Pool Training

The pool sessions are also broken into five sections (completed in one day). They will build on the knowledge you learned in the classroom and give you a chance to practice all the skills you will need to master.

3. Open Water Dives

The open water dives are what everyone is waiting for! Here is your time to get out for a dive and demonstrate that you have learned the skills needed to safely dive.

Your certification will qualify you dive to a maximum depth of 60 feet. You are qualified to dive in conditions as good as, or better than, those in which you trained. This just the beginning of a lifetime filled with dive adventures.

To become open water certified, you do not need to have any prior scuba diving training or experience. We do recommend that students participate in a Discover Scuba Diving experience to get a taste for scuba diving but it is not required.

Students must be able to swim.

Prior to the start of class, students must be medically fit, able to complete a 200 yd swim (there is no time limit or stroke requirement). It is a requirement that students fill out the Medical Questionnaire and potentially be cleared by a physician to dive.

Prior to the start of class, students MUST have completed your coursework (eLearning) PRIOR to the start of class!

The minimum age for certification is 10 years old and you must be physically capable of carrying 25lbs of weight on your back.

The course takes a minimum of three days. We are very flexible, we allow our students to start when they wish and we will work around your schedule.

There is required reading/coursework that must be completed before the start of the course. We offer PADI e-Learning to allow students to complete their coursework around their schedule prior to the start of class.

Note: PADI allows the eLearning coursework to be available for 1 calendar year after opening the link and creating a login. The eLearning is accessible via desktop, tablet, or phone.

We at Aarons pride ourselves on our customer service, our class schedule is based on your availability and due to this our class size is generally very small.  You will feel like you have your own private instructor giving you the attention you deserve.

Our boat, the Na Makana, is based out of Hawaii Kai and is a USCG certified vessel that accommodates 14 divers.  We split up the divers into groups based on experience level so that once in the water you are in a small group once again.

It is the Pacific Ocean, sometimes we do experience sea sickness.  If you are prone to or worried about getting sea sick, we find the best way to combat it is by taking Dramamine or Bonine the night before diving and the morning of.
Courses are scheduled around your availability.
Courses may require an eLearning portion.
