HONOLULU Reef Clean Up!

Start the new year with a BANG! Make a big difference at this local diving, fishing, surfing spot. 

Who: Hosted by Hawaii Marine Animal Response, Nudi Wear and Aaron’s Dive Shop. Open to everyone! Scuba Divers, freedivers and beach/park-combers welcome! 
Skill level: Scuba divers and freedivers should be intermediate level. There is a stairway entrance and active boat channel. 
What: Reef/ocean clean up & park clean up
When: Saturday, January 13th, from 8:30AM-12:00PM
Where: Point Panic Park
Why: This are is heavily used by the community – as mentioned above, scuba divers, boaters, freedivers, surfers, body boarders, and fishermen all frequent this site. It is also full of sea life! Turtles, sharks, frogfish, humus, moray eels, octopus, and much more. Because it is so heavily used by humans, hosts an active boat channel, AND is in Honolulu – there is a LOT of debris and runoff that ends up here. Fishing line is tangled up in coral and rocks. Cans and bottles litter the sandy bottom. 

What will be provided: Sheers, gloves and mesh bags will be provided in limited supply. 

What to bring: Please bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection (reef-safe sunscreen, rashguard, etc). Divers MUST bring their own gear – scuba divers and freedivers. 

Scuba divers MUST be certified.
